Strong indications emerged on Monday that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is yet to inform President Mohammadu Buhari of his intention to contest for the presidency in 2023.
A top political leader and close friend of the Vice President told The Network that the Vice President and the President have not had any discussion on his plans for 2023.
The source stated further that the President is not yet back in the country for such a discussion to take place,
It was further argued that it would be improper for the Vice President to go to the UK to tell him of such a major ambition and decision.
The source, a major factor in the Osinbajo team stated however that the Vice President made up his mind at the weekend to brief the President of his ambition when he returns to the country.
The source said, “What you are asking me is not correct. The Vice President has not told the President of his plans for 2023.
“The President is still outside the country. He is yet to return to Nigeria. Do you go outside the country to tell the President of your ambition.
“What I can tell you is that the Vice President has made up his mind to tell the President. But that will only happen when the President returns from his UK trip.
The reaction follows a trending report that Osinbajo had told the President of his intention to succeed him in 2023.
