2023: Women Group Urges Yoruba Leaders, Stakeholders On Action To Avoid Impending Adversity

Ahead of the upcoming 2023 presidential election, Founder, Oduduwa Women Advocacy Initiative, Erelu Module Martins said it was imperative that the entire yoruba race come together and speak in unity in order to avert the impending loom designed to cause disarray amongst our people.

Martins disclosed this in a statement made available to newsmen in Abuja on Friday.

Recall that since 2009, Nigeria has been battling with various insurgencies, ranging from Boko Haram to kidnapping, armed robbery, banditry, to mention few; all over the 26 states including the Federal Capital Territory.

Martins said that on a daily basis, these terrorists and bandits were getting more fearless and deliberate in their gruesome attacks across the country.

” Just few weeks ago, there was a terrifying attack on Abuja-Kaduna train, which left at least eight passengers dead, forty one injured and scores kidnapped; also there was an attack by a group of armed terrorists, who invaded Gurara; an Abuja community.

” Similarly, the Kaduna International Airport was invaded by these heartless groups of terrorists.

” The effect of these insurgencies on our economy is numerous and cannot be overemphasized; the economy of the country is deteriorating by the seconds and the burden is heavily on the citizens.

” The numbers of widows, orphans, and less privileged keep increasing by the day and countless has become internally displaced in their fatherland, hunger has taken over countless homes in our country.,” she said.

The founder added that the southwest was not left out in this misfortune that had befall the nation.

She therefore called on our fathers and mothers to please wake up and proffer a long lasting solution.

” Before us are two presidential candidates from the southwest which are Bola Tinubu and Vice president Yemi Osinbajo, and others that may declare their interest to run for presidency as election draws nearer.

” Leaders and stakeholders in the yoruba race must come together to take a firm decision on who to give their support.

” Otherwise, the opportunity of winning the election in the southwest may be lost via the divide and rule technic being adopted by foes,” she added

She further appealed to OONIRISHA, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi; (Ọjájá II) as the father of the entire yorubas all over the world to rise up to this clarion call.

She urged the forum to adopt a similar approach used in settling the Amotekun saga while choosing who to support in the forthcoming election.

” I also call on His royal highness, Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III to highlight and attend to this avoidable calamity.

” Aare Ona Kakanfo, the General Lismo of the entire Yoruba land, I beseech you to hearken to the cry of the masses who have been widowed, orphaned, displaced, and everyone passing through several distress due to these calamities in the Yoruba land and prioritize their interest while making decision on who to lead the Nation come 2023.

” The Erelu Kuti of Lagos state and the Yeyeluwa of the Yoruba land, Erelu Abiola Dosumu; as a mother and as a stakeholder in the Yoruba land, l implore you to summon all the prominent women for a crucial meeting towards taking a pivotal decision ahead of the presidential election.

I am also calling on youth leaders, Women leaders (Iya Loja’s), Religious leaders, Yoruba Organizations at home and in diaspora, Opinion leaders, Stakeholders in every community to wake up and swing into immediate action and come up with workable solutions,” she said.
