…As  Thirteen  Teams Progress On Match  Day One 

As the much awaited Bayelsa Governor’s Football Tournament, tagged ‘The Prosperity Cup’ got into it’s business stage, thirteen teams have booked their place in the next round of the competition, following victories on match day one played across eight centres on Friday.

The biggest victory came from the Nembe City Centre, as Nembe City pummeled their opponent, Kpogbokiri community, 11 goals to 2, in what is obviously, one of the biggest scoreline recorded in the history of the Governor’s Cup since it’s inception in 2015.

Peter Oyambo and Atebu B. both netted hat tricks, with Wisdom Vanman, Nengi, Abiola Oyekalum completing the rout in the second match that became a one sided game, in favor of the host.

The first game at the centre saw Etieama walk over Sangakubu, as the team failed to honour their fixture, same situation at the Tombia center in Yenagoa, where Oduduwa FC booked their place in the next round after walking over Redemption Fire FC.

However, in the second game, Grace Chapel FC defeated Ekpetiama community two nil, with Honest Bamson and Aaron Solomon finding the back of the net.

The Ekpetiama side attracted lots of support from Tombia community since they are neighbors and looked promising form the on set with lots of misused opportunities, but Honest Bamson’s header in the 19th minute from Ebitimi Kalama’s cross, and Aaron Solomon’s beautiful slot from close range in the 72nd minute, ensured they progressed to the next round.

Joe Isuru could have reduced the deficit ten minutes to full time, but no thanks to his header which went some inches away from the wood work after connecting from a free kick.

At the BDGS centre, Agbura community defeated House of Hope FC three goals to two in the first game, as Swali Market saw off Experience Academy three-two in the second game, while at Opolo Centre, Bayelsa Palm FC defeated Niger Delta FC one nil, with NIIT defeating St. Joseph, Agudama 4-2 on penalties, after a one all draw at regulation time.

In other results, Land of Peace Church beat Divine Joy Ministry on e goal to nil in the first game at the Okordia/Zarama centre, Potter House of God lost one four to Igbogene FC, Okoroma FC were two-one winners over Opu Nembe Community at the Okoroma Tereke centre, while at the Oporoma centre, Osokama community walked over Amaebide community.
