...Says Dafinone’s declstation at variance with the electoral act
The National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Asaba, the Delta State Capital on Friday, 19th April, 2023 adjourned to Tuesday, 23rd May, for a continuation of pre-hearing in the petition filed by Mr. Peters Omaruaye, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for Delta Central Senatorial District election, 2023.
In the suit filed by Mr. Omaruaye against Chief Ede Dafinone, the All Progressives Congress (APC), Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) as Defendants/Respondents, the APGA candidate is seeking the total cancellation of the entire Senatorial District election.
The three man panel of Justices after listening to both parties in the suite adjourned the Pre- hearing to tuesday 23rd of May, 2023.
The lead counsel to the Petitioner, Barrister Diejomaoh informed the court during the pre hearing that he is ready to prove his case that the just concluded National Assembly election for Delta Central Senatorial District was not conducted in line with the provision of the electoral act as Amended.
The petitioner, who called on four (4) witnesses, added that he is ready to tender weighty evidence to prove his case, which will not take the time of the honourable court, he said.
Briefing news men after the court session, the petitioner who was represented in court by his Campaign Director-General, Mr. Sonnie Emaniru, said he filed a petition against the APC Candidate and faulted INEC for announcing Dafinone as the elected Senator to represent the good people of Delta Central Senatorial District.
