Dignitaries from across Delta State gathered to honour the memory of one of Nigeria’s finest legal minds, Hon. Justice Rufus Agbebighoma Ijemine Ogbobine, whose legacy continues to shine 25 years after his passing.
ENN Media was fully present to capture the solemn yet dignified atmosphere of the event, documenting notable guests, cultural moments, and powerful tributes befitting a man who lived as a jurist, scholar, playwright, community leader, and mentor.
A high-level delegation representing the Governor of Delta State attended the ceremony, seated among an impressive roll-call of personalities. Chiefs from Warri Kingdom, Uvwie Kingdom, and other neighbouring kingdoms graced the remembrance, symbolizing the deep respect Justice Ogbobine commanded across ethnic and traditional lines.
The gathering also featured political leaders, community leaders, senior members of the Nigerian Bar Association, distinguished Judges, renowned SANs, and legal practitioners who came to honour the man whose works in land tenure and customary law remain reference points in Nigerian jurisprudence.
Justice Ogbobine was more than a name in law books. He was a founding member of the Mid-West State Movement, a bold voice during his student activism abroad, and the author of respected works such as “Oshimili and Aniocha: Their People and Land Tenure” and “Death in the Triangle Assizes.” His influence shaped minds, mentored young lawyers, and strengthened the foundations of the legal system in the Mid-West region.
The remembrance was not just a ceremony it was a celebration of legacy. Families, friends, legal luminaries, and traditional rulers came together to reaffirm that Justice Ogbobine’s impact still echoes strongly, even 25 years later.
ENN Media captured the event in grand detail portraits of dignitaries, cultural colours, powerful emotions, and the dignified atmosphere surrounding the ceremony.
A full gallery and visual highlights will be released soon.
Justice Ogbobine may be gone, but the tree he planted still stands tall.
