A known APC Chieftain in Edo State has beaten up a female broadcaster working with Edo State Broadcasting Corporation (EBS) in Benin
This happened at government house Benin where the staff covers the office of the 1st Lady
The incident has caused a lot outrage in the State with her colleagues calling for the arrest of the Chieftain .
Instead of protecting the interest and justice for the woman , the NUJ which initially issued a statement condemning the act , turned around to claim the issue has been resolved ” amicably “.
How do you resolve an issue of battering of your member , a female for that matter ” amicably”?
I learnt the Director General of EBS ( our own Sulai Aledeh ) is furious and has even threatened to resign over the case ( I saw a video of him in a radio podcast ) if the culprit is not arrested and prosecuted.
