ABUJA, NIGERIA

The group stages of the 7th NCF-PwC National U-17 Cricket Championship Finals reached a fever pitch on Match Day 3 at the MKO Abiola National Stadium. After three days of intense competition, the semi-finalists for both categories have been confirmed, setting the stage for a high-stakes knockout phase.

Match Day 3 Results: The Final Push

A press statement signed by Zeal Ibe, Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF, Media Manager on March 13, 2026 said Match Day 3 was a day of “all or nothing” as regions fought for survival. While the South-South continued their undisputed reign, other regions faced nail-biting finishes to secure their progression.

Boys’ Category Results (Match Day 3)

• South-South vs North-West 14/10: South-South dominated once again, posting a formidable score 157/4 led by Ebiram Bright Ojong’s aggressive batting 68 runs of 66 balls. In the second innings they restricted North-West to a low total 14/10, winning by 143 runs.

• South-West vs North-East: In a high-scoring encounter, South-West sets a target of 195 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in 25 overs, restricting the North East side to 75/10 in 23.5 overs claiming a 120 runs victory.

Girls’ Category Results (Match Day 3)

• South-South vs South-West: South-South finished their campaign on a high, securing a 6-wicket victory over South-West.

• South-East vs North-East: South-East solidified their spot in the semis standing with a massive 80-run win after bowling out North-East for 80 runs in 19.4 overs.

Throughout the group stages, the South-South teams established themselves as the gold standard, remaining unbeaten across both categories. Their success was built on a balanced attack of lethal pace bowling and disciplined middle-order batting.

The South-West Boys showed incredible resilience, particularly in their Day 1 victory over South-East, which proved pivotal for their seeding. In the Girls’ category, the South-East emerged as a rising power, utilizing a spin-heavy bowling attack that defeated their northern opponents. Despite being eliminated, the North-East and North-Central regions showed significant growth, with several individual players performances.
