BENIN CITY, EDO STATE – The Edo State Chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has successfully concluded its State Harmonization Meeting. This follows a seamless transition through Ward and Local Government Congresses, marking a pivotal milestone in the party’s nationwide structural reinforcement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A press statement signed by Mr. Abdulkadiri Abdulazeez Obogeh, State Publicity Secretary,
Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Edo State on May 4, 2026 said the congresses, conducted under the diligent supervision of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), served as a masterclass in internal democracy, characterized by orderly participation and a strong sense of grassroots ownership.
The transition began on May 1, 2026, with Ward Congresses held across all 193 wards in Edo State, followed by Local Government Congresses on May 2. This phased approach ensured that local leadership remained reflective of their specific communities while adhering strictly to national party guidelines.
During the Harmonization Meeting, party faithful from all three Senatorial Districts engaged in robust dialogue to align the party’s vision. The newly ratified State Chairman, Engr. David Olukoga, reaffirmed his commitment to an “Open House” policy.
“Our strength lies in our unity,” Olukoga stated.
“The State Working Committee is committed to being people-friendly and inclusive. We are focused on eliminating factionalism and building a single, formidable front.”
To further this inclusive agenda, the Chairman has directed all newly elected Ward and LG Chairmen to publish lists of vacant offices within their committees to accommodate and integrate new members effectively.
