Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has reacted strongly to the allegation that he circulated a fake audio linked to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a post on his social media handle, VDM accused the President’s spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, of spreading false information about him in order to create grounds for his arrest or prosecution.

According to VDM, more than 24 hours had passed since Onanuga made the claim, insisting that the alleged attempt to “cage” him had failed.

The controversy started after a viral clip circulated online with an audio falsely attributed to President Tinubu. The Presidency had accused VDM of being involved in spreading the clip and called for legal action against him.

However, a fact-check report later stated that the viral version was a manipulated clip and that the controversial audio was not part of VDM’s original video.

VDM’s lawyers also faulted the Presidency’s reaction, saying proper checks on his verified social media pages would have shown that he did not post or share the said audio.

They urged security agencies to investigate the real source of the doctored clip and identify those behind its creation and circulation.
