The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has directed native doctors, traditional priests and worshippers across Edo South to begin a week-long spiritual exercise against kidnappers, bandits and other violent criminals. The monarch said the exercise will culminate on July 2 at his palace in Benin City, where curses will be pronounced on criminals and their collaborators.
The royal directive follows growing concerns over insecurity and kidnapping in Edo State. Oba Ewuare II said the traditional institution must complement government efforts to restore peace, while palace officials described the exercise as a spiritual intervention aimed at confronting kidnappers, armed robbers and other violent offenders operating in the state.
