The National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, has faulted the decision of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke to suspend the union’s operations across the state.
MC Oluomo argued that the governor has no constitutional authority to halt the activities of the NURTW, insisting that such powers are not vested in any state governor.
Governor Adeleke had, on Thursday, directed the immediate suspension of all NURTW activities in motor parks across Osun State following renewed factional clashes among members of the union.
The directive was aimed at restoring law and order and preventing further violence linked to the internal disputes within the transport workers’ union.
Reacting to the move, MC Oluomo maintained that the suspension was beyond the governor’s legal powers, setting the stage for a possible dispute over the state’s authority to regulate the union’s activities.
