Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued six kidnapped victims and recovered ₦800,000 allegedly taken from them by terrorists in Dandume Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, according to a statement issued on Sunday by the Theatre’s Media Information Officer, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja, is part of sustained military operations aimed at degrading terrorist activities across the North West.
The victims were rescued on Saturday, August 22, 2026, after troops of Sector 2, conducting a fighting patrol, responded to a distress call that terrorists had intercepted a vehicle and abducted its six occupants along the Dandume–Sheme Road.
The troops swiftly mobilised to the area and engaged the terrorists, overwhelming them with superior firepower and forcing them to abandon the victims before fleeing into the surrounding bushes.
A subsequent search of the area led to the rescue of all six victims, who were found unharmed.
Troops also recovered the ₦800,000 reportedly taken from the victims by the terrorists during the incident.
The recovered money and the vehicle were handed back to the victims in the presence of the Divisional Police Officer, Dandume.
In a separate operation conducted on August 21, troops of Sector 2 engaged suspected terrorists along the Maraban Kankara axis in Kankara Local Government Area.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists, forcing them to flee in disarray into the surrounding bushes.
The soldiers pursued the fleeing elements and subsequently conducted an exploitation of the area, during which they recovered one motorcycle.
The Joint Task Force North West said it remained committed to sustaining aggressive patrols and offensive operations to deny terrorists freedom of action and protect lives and property across the region.
The Theatre also appreciated members of the public for their continued support and urged communities to provide timely and credible information to security forces to assist ongoing military operations.
