…As Club Welcomes its past President to his second Term on the NCF Board

The Cricket Club Abuja Sunday Regular Training session this past Sunday, September 3rd, 2021 lived up to its billing as the  batting consistency of Mr. Ayo Ejegi continued with him hitting 49 runs off 18 balls not out.

This seemed to be a follow up to his previous Sunday’s performance of 53 runs of 19 balls. Here what he had to say about his recent superb performances. See the interview above☝️

Crossfire Question: What Do We Expect from the newly elected Board of the NCF?

The newly elected President of the Nigerian Cricket Federation, NCF, Mr. Uyi Akpata is humbled to be given the leadership mantle of leadership at the Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF). He has also said that he and the new Board will make sure that Stakeholders of the game will form the bedrock from which the game will progress in the next four years, taking into consideration, grassroots development, facility upgrade and construction, elite performance of our players and Fan engagement, Also to be exploited is partnership with public and private sectors as well as government.

Mr. Akpata has promised that in October, there will be a full council where all stakeholders will have a strategic session together and bring all their wants, needs, and observations ideas which will be deliberated upon and will then form the benchmark with which the Federation will progress in the next four years. He is happy, exited and counting on the support of all cricket stakeholders and fans to make sure that the board succeeds.

During the interview an inquiry from the scorer of the game revealed that Team B was chasing 191 Runs and needed 192 runs to win in the T20 styled game. Shantinu was the highest scoring batsperson for Team A, while Ayo Ejegi scored 49 runs off 19 balls and Kalpa scored 44 runs.

Also speaking to Crossfire Reports, Okechukwu Jamal Onwudiwe, a member of the GCUOBA Cricket Squad in the Division 1 Lagos CCC League based in Abuja in response to a question said the reason why he has not featured for the club in the last season is because the club was downsized on the bases of its low budget and it had to release some of its array of very good players. Also some of the players were recruited by GCUOBA competitors in Division 1 of the Lagos CCC.

 

Speaking to Crossfire Reports during the training session, newly reelected NCF Board member and former President of the Cricket Club Abuja, Mr. Oludare Aimola emphasized that his primary constituency on the board of the Nigerian Cricket Federation is the North Central Zone Comprising of Kwara, Kogi, Nasarawa, Benue, Plateau, Niger States and the FCT.

On what to expect from him and the new NCF board, Mr. Aimola said nothing but more grassroots development.

Also on ground to watch the training session of the Cricket Club Abuja purely for leisure purpose was Asanka Gurusinha, the hard-hitting left-hander who was part of Sri Lanka’s World Cup-winning team in 1996, and while is Nigeria’s head coach and high-performance manager.
