The Government and People of Bayelsa State have been thrown into mourning by the sudden death of the Chairman of the State Environmental Sanitation Authority, Hon Tolu Amatu.

The late prominent political figure was also Chairman of the Ekeremor Local Government Area during the administration of Chief Henry Seriake Dickson.

He was an aspirant for the Sagbama/Ekeremor Federal Constituency seat in the Federal House of Representatives under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party.

THE NETWORK reported that a source close to the late politician said he complained of pains in the leg and took some medications on Friday.

He was also said to have complained that he was having waist pain and inability to stool on Saturday.

It was stated that he later left the house to pay the salaries of his hotel staff, and sadly collapsed in his residence at Bay Bridge, Yenagoa.

The source said that the agitated family members and friends rushed him to Crest Clinic, SAPTEX Road, Yenagoa where he was confirmed dead.

“His death came as a shock to everybody. He complained of leg pains, and took medication.

“Then yesterday he said he had waist pains and that he had not gone to toilet. He was told to take oranges and others which he did.

“He was then told to rest but he went to the hotel to pay his staff around 5pm.

“When he returned he went upstairs.

“He collapsed in his house. Sadly, he died before getting to Crest Clinic, SAPTEX Road, Yenagoa where he was rushed to.”
