Lady Valerie Fubara, wife of Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has urged parents to instil the fear of God in their children and wards while diligently fulfilling their responsibilities to their families and the state.

According to a statement by the Government House Press Unit, Lady Fubara shared this advice during her visits to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital and Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, on Wednesday.

She was there to celebrate with babies born on Christmas Day and also visited the Port Harcourt Children’s Home in Borokiri, where she spent time with the children.

During the visits, the governor’s wife presented gifts to the Christmas babies, Sammy Obayegbona at UPTH and Kate Saviour at RSUTH, as well as to other children in the hospital wards.

She expressed gratitude to God for the safe delivery of the newborns, congratulated their parents, and encouraged them to raise the children in the fear of God. She also prayed that the children would grow to become blessings to their families.

The statement quotes the first lady, “Parents should fear God, love God. Once you have the fear of the Lord, you don’t need to be advised; it checks you. When you are doing something wrong, it will tell you that what you are doing is wrong. Also, as mothers, we must support our husbands; support them in prayers, and support them in other ways that we know we can support them. It is very important.

“I want to say to God be all the glory. Today, by the special grace of God, I am here again to celebrate Christmas with all of you. I am also most elated because of the birth of these babies because we all know that Christmas was when Jesus Christ was born. So, these children are also gifts to the state. We say congratulations to the parents. (The Punch)
