…one success does not erase the anxieties businesses have recently expressed or experienced
By Chris Osa Nehikhare
Let us be clear: the newly announced $100 million SIAT investment into Presco PLC is a welcome development. Any credible investment that expands jobs and strengthens our agricultural base must be applauded.
However, Edo people deserve the full truth, not selective storytelling.
SIAT did not suddenly discover Edo State. They were among the many serious investors courted, supported, and given the confidence to operate here by the immediate past administration. Their growth, their stability, and now this expansion are rooted in years of deliberate engagement and policy continuity.
So, while we congratulate Governor Okpebholo for receiving this delegation and celebrating their renewed investment, we must remind his administration that one success does not erase the anxieties businesses have recently expressed and experienced.
If this government truly seeks to promote investment, then every investor must feel protected — not just the one visiting Government House on camera.
Edo’s economy is powered by companies already here — employing thousands, paying taxes, supporting local communities, and trusting in Edo’s future. These investors do not need public threats, land controversies, or governance by guesswork. They need stability, clarity, and respect.
Investors thrive where consistency thrives.
Edo prospers where business prospers.
And progress is sustained not by publicity, but by policy.
So yes — congratulations on Presco’s expansion.
But do not forget the rest of the businessmen and women who have kept faith with Edo. When you encourage them, protect them, and allow them to grow, new investments will always follow.
Edo must remain open for business — in fact, and not merely in press releases.
