Edo Govt Condemns ill-treatment of Domestic Staff

Edo State Government through the Ministry of Social Development and Gender Issues has reacted to the plight of a domestic staff, “Miss Jay”, a seventeen years old Girl, who was seriously burnt by her employers, Mr. and Mrs. Williams. His name is Ogheneyovwe Prosperity in Edo State.

The Commissioner of the Ministry Hon. Christabel Omoh Ekwu, who visited the victim in the hospital was in shock at the level of physical damage caused by the severe burns inflicted on her by her employer who are Pastors of Prophetic Nation Church in Benin City.

Hon. Ekwu also disclosed that Edo State Government has no room to aid and abet criminals who disguise themselves as Pastors and prophet to execute their evil act, noting that they will face the full weight of the law when they are caught.

“Enough is enough in Edo State. We can’t allow our State to be tagged a wicked zoo just because we allow other citizens from other states to live in our dear land, There is no religious basis to support this kind of cruel act as a form of deliverance or correctional means,Justice must prevail at all cost,” she noted.

The Commissioner in company of the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Babara Osobajo were at the Police Station where the perpetrator Mr. Williams Ogheneyovwe Prosperity has been detained for further investigation.

In his statement, Mr. Williams
Ogheneyovwe alleged that the victim is a witch hence the brutality and Mrs. Williams, who is the Co-suspect is currently on the run and wanted by the Nigerian Police Force.
