The Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo,has said that the existing Private Security Guard (PSG) System in Nigeria is obsolete and that the Tinubu Administration will rejig the PSG Industry in to meet Global Standards.

The Minister made the remarks in his paper, titled; “Bridging Challenges, Building Strength: Towards a Resilient Private Security Government Framework,” as Guest Speaker at the 5th Private Security Industry Summit (PSIS) and 9th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held in Abuja on Tuesday 12th of October, 2025.
“In my address, I re-affirmed our government’s resolve to rejig the private security guard industry into an enviable enterprise that can compete globally.
“In 2025, we believe that the existing Private Security Guard system is obsolete, and that we must lead the charge from the top, given the critical role the industry plays in the nation’s wider security architecture.

“Let us, again, come together to redefine how our people are protected across the country through policy, technology and service.
