Imiringi community in Ogbia Local Government Area was thrown into shock following the arrest of one Mr. Kingsley Sunday, a staff of the Federal University Otuoke, security department (FUO), over allegations of rape and child molestation.
Mr. Sunday was apprehended by the Community Development Committee (CDC) of Imiringi, led by its Chairman, Mr. Afagha Ayens Daniel, and immediately handed over to operatives of the Nigerian Police SWAT unit in Yenagoa.
Community sources revealed that Mr. Sunday had previously resided in Emeyal, but was allegedly driven out over similar misconduct before relocating to Imiringi. His latest victim, a minor said to be between 10 and 12 years old, reportedly lived with him and his wive.
During the arrest, several women in Imiringi came forward to testify that Mr. Sunday had been in the habit of harassing women and young girls, including farmers returning from their farmlands. Similar allegations were also traced to Otuoke, where he works at the University.
The arrest has sparked widespread calls from residents and rights advocates for thorough investigation and justice for the victims.
