Delta State Governor, Sherrif Oborevwori cast his vote at about 10:54 am in the ongoing Delta State Independent Eletoral Commission (DSIEC) – conducted Local Government elections at his polling unit.

A statement on his Facebook page said further that as a product of a free and fair election, he will continue to advocate for free, fair, and credible elections.

“At exactly 10:54 AM this morning, I voted at my polling unit in the ongoing DSIEC-conducted Local Government elections.

“The process was peaceful and hitch-free. I want to assume that it is so across the 25 LGAs in spite of the early morning rain.

“As a product of a free and fair election, I will continue to advocate for free, fair, and credible elections.

“Overall, this Local Government election is a litmus test and its outcome will be a determinant of whether we are doing well with our MORE Agenda policy thrust or not.

“While speaking to the media after voting, l used the opportunity to share my perspectives on the recent Supreme Court ruling on Local Government financial autonomy.

“As a former speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, I championed the argument for financial autonomy for the Judiciary and the Legislature. So this is not strange to us as a government. In Delta, as a matter of principle, we do not tamper with LGA funds; instead, we have most times augmented their expenditure with funds meant for the State.
