The Edo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Chris Osa Nehikhare has said that, Governor Obaseki’s administration has been the most transparent and accountable in the history of Edo State till date.
In a press statement titled, “Statement on Governor Obaseki’s Transparency and Accountability”, Mr. Nehikhare said: “I would like to emphasize that Governor Obaseki’s administration has been the most transparent and accountable in Edo State ever.”
Mr. Nehikhare added that in the area of Due Process and Award of Contracts, the government of Obaseki has adhered to due process in the award and execution of contracts.He said the pricing and procurement processes have received numerous accolades both nationally and internationally.
The statement went further to give the following breakdown:
Recognition:
– One of our staff members is currently in Liberia to help replicate Edo State’s exemplary procurement processes.
– Various agencies, including the World Bank under SFTAS programme gave our goverment, Public Expenditure Efficiency Award, (The only state in the Federation) and Fiscal Transparency And Accountability Award (first among 5 States)as well as ICAN, have recognized Governor Obaseki with awards for his commitment to transparency and accountability.
Resource Utilization:
– Edo State has experienced unprecedented levels of resource utilization, ensuring value for money.
– Our data and documentation regarding government activities are accessible at our data center located in the Government House.
Governance and Accountability:
– Every action taken has been in the best interest of the Edo people, and we have the authority as their elected government to do so.
– Unlike former Governor Oshiomhole, who was shielded from scrutiny, Governor Obaseki welcomes accountability and does not hide behind others.
Future Governance:
– Just like the Pirates of the Carribean, As Adams Oshiomhole begins his third term in office, Edo people will have to be weary of his impunity and utterances as his penchant for lies and bearing false witness will only increase and his desperation to show that he stole the mandate and there is nothing anyone can do about it will be more flagrantly exhibited.
– We are aware of the ongoing infighting in Adams Oshiomhole’s APC concerning leadership positions within the Edo Internal Revenue Service (EIRS), especially given our government’s success in increasing revenue projected to hit 100 billion Naira in 2025.
We will stand guard on behalf of EDO people to make sure their resources are not fretted away to build another Mobutu Sese Sèko style mansions in their villages.
