All necessary arrangements have been completed for the February 3 bye-election for the State Assembly in Kunchi/Tsanyawa, Kura/Garin Malam, and Rimin Gado/Tofa, according to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Kano.

Abdu Zango, the state’s resident electoral commissioner, made this revelation to interested parties on Tuesday at the commission’s Kano office.

“With our skilled electoral staff prepared to conduct a transparent and credible election for the conduct of bye-elections in six local government areas, we are fully ready for the bye-election,” he declared.

“We are holding elections in 66 polling places throughout the state’s six local government districts.”The upcoming bye-election will not be open to anyone who does not possess a permanent voter card.

According to Crossfire Reports, the commission had already sent both confidential and non-sensitive materials to every local government region that was affected.

Zango explained that the rerun polls would use the BIVAS equipment to guarantee free, fair, and credible elections.

The REC expressed his confidence in the successful and seamless conduct of the bye-election.

“We have provided our staff with fundamental electoral training to ensure the conduct of free, fair, and transparent elections on February 3rd,” he stated.

Zango praised the Police for supplying the required number of security guards for the byelection.

Commissioner Usaini Gumel of the State Police said in his speech that the command had already put security measures in place to ensure that the elections in the affected Local Government Areas went off without a hitch.

Speaking on behalf of Gumel, CSP Hamma Abdullahi said that there will be police present at every polling location, enabling eligible residents of the six local government areas to participate in the exercise without worrying about their personal safety or belongings.

He cautioned political party leaders who intend to compete for office, to convince their supporters not to engage in any kind of thuggery, ballot snatching, or political violence during the election campaign.
