Jamaica’s Minister of Culture announces date for Burial of Third World Band Co-Founder, Stephen “Cat” Coore

The Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, the Honourable Olivia Grange, has announced details of the farewell to the late Reggae musician, Stephen ‘Cat’ Coore.

Minister Grange said a funeral service for the co-founder of the Third World band will be held on Thursday, February 19, 2026 at the University Chapel, UWI Mona, beginning at 10 o’clock.

In addition, a musical celebration of Cat Coore’s life will take place at Ranny Williams Entertainment Centre, 36 Hope Road, from 7pm to 11pm on Friday, February 20, 2026.

Minister Grange said the events would allow the public to pay final respects to Cat Coore whom she described as “one of the nation’s greatest Reggae Ambassadors who helped to carry Jamaica’s music to the peoples of the world.”

Minister Grange said Cat Coore’s contribution to Jamaican music was “immense and lasting.”
