True to their promise, Nigeria’s Super Eagles this Monday evening bounced back powerfully, avenging their defeat by less fancied opponents, the Wild Dogs of Guinea Bissau, to return to the top of Group A of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.

The Super Eagles, desperate to redeem their image in the reverse fixture following last Friday’s shock 0-1 loss in Abuja, dominated the game but were denied several scoring chances by the resolute hosts.

However, they smiled home with victory courtesy of a solitary goal scored by Moses Simon from the penalty spot in the 30th minute of play after a Guinea Bissau defender hacked down an on-rushing Super Eagle.

The victory took Nigeria to nine points and back at the top of the group.
