Khloé Says She Found Out About Caitlyn Jenner’s Transition on Camera: ‘That Was Hard for Us’

Khloé Kardashian revealed why she had such a struggle adjusting to Caitlyn Jenner’s transition from male to female in an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show that will air on Monday.

In a newly released preview clip, host Ellen DeGeneres asked Kardashian about how she was dealing with the transition after it appeared she was having difficulty processing it on the family’s reality show.

“Well I had a hard time because I found out on camera like while we were filming and I felt like we kept asking him, Bruce, Like what’s going on we’re hearing all these rumors,” she said. “And he kept telling us one thing, but really he knew he was transitioning and wouldn’t be honest with us. So we felt like we were kind of the last to know so that was hard for us. Especially me. I defended him for so long or whatever.

“So that was hard for me and then now I’m fully okay with it,” she continued. “But I think the biggest part for me was understanding that Bruce is totally separate than Caitlyn. I don’t think Bruce knew fully that when he would be Caitlyn I’m sure he no one knows what’s going to happen, we’re all doing this for the first time.”

Kardashian explained, “I’m sure he probably hoped maybe glimmers of Bruce would be there. But if your soul really wanted to be a female this whole time I can’t expect that. So now that we know that he’s, Caitlyn, he’s not Bruce. They’re two separate people.”

However, Kardashian admitted that she and her family still refer to Jenner as “dad,” which she says she knows is “confusing to some people but that’s how we know her.” She also revealed that Jenner would be spending Thanksgiving away from the family as she was working but they hoped to spend Christmas together.

In previous preview clips from Kardashian and DeGeneres’ interview, the Strong Looks Better Naked author touched on her relationship with estranged husband Lamar Odom, whom she has supported during his current hospitalization.

“I love him and I always will and he’s a fantastic person who deserves support and love and for someone to be by his side, and for me, I’m that to him,” she said. “And thank God I have a fantastic family who loves me and loves him just as much, and they’re so supportive and they’re with me and I have a great boyfriend who’s understanding.”
