MAXWELL KHOBE CANTONMENT GETS MAJOR BOOST AS ARMY CHIEF COMMISSIONS MULTIPLE INFRASTRUCTURAL PROJECTS IN COMMEMORATION OF NADCEL

The Maxwell Khobe Cantonment Jos, Plateau State today, Friday 5 July 2024, witnessed a significant upgrade with the commissioning of multiple infrastructural projects by the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja.

A press statement signed by Major General Onyena Nwachukwu, Director, Army Public Relations on July 5, 2024 said that the projects commissioned are part of COAS’s efforts to enhance operational efficiency by improving troops’ working and living conditions.

The projects include remodelled Headquarters 3 Division complex entrance, car porch, fountain, and reception. Other projects include the newly constructed 2,000 capacity 3 Division sports complex pavilion, the newly constructed 2 blocks of 30 Corporal and below Quarters, and the newly constructed 3 Division Garrison Regimental Sergeants Major (RSM) house.

Commissioning the projects, Lieutenant General Lagbaja stated that the projects will boost the living conditions and training capabilities of soldiers in the cantonment.

The Army Chief averred that the projects demonstrate the Nigerian Army’s (NA) commitment to investing in its personnel and infrastructure. He commended the Nigerian Army Engineers, NA Special projects, and other stakeholders for their relentless efforts in completing the projects on time while maintaining best practices.

While appreciating the troops for their commitment and sacrifices, the COAS pledges more infrastructural development projects in all NA Barracks.

In another development, Rhino Golf Course played host to a special golf tournament as part of the activities lined up to commemorate NADCEL 2024.

The Special Guest of Honour at the tournament, Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun (Rtd) alongside the former governor of Plateau State, Senator Simon Lalong and other dignitaries performed the ceremonial Tee-off at Rhino Golf Club, Maxwell Khobe Cantonment. Jos.

Lieutenant General Lamidi Adeosun (Rtd) described golf as recreational and a game of life which exposes individuality and collective desire for victory.

He averred that a physically fit individual is a guarantee for victory in the protection of Nigerians. Eliciting further, he averred that the essence of the NADCEL golf tournament was to enable personnel to keep fit and encourage personnel to imbibe golfing for their physical well-being and commitment to duties

The high point of the event was the presentation of prizes to the winners and souvenirs to guests.
