The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has said the patriotism, courage and selfless service of Nigeria’s fallen military heroes remain a lasting source of inspiration for the Nigerian Army as it continues to safeguard the nation’s security.

Represented by the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, the COAS described the church service as one of the key events marking the Nigerian Army’s 163rd anniversary. Also in attendance were representatives of the Chief of Defence Staff, Service Chiefs, Principal Staff Officers from the Defence and Service Headquarters, senior serving and retired officers, members of the Nigerian Army Officers’ Wives Association, the Soldiers’ Wives Association, as well as officers and soldiers.
