The Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF, has announced the commencement of the National Under-17 Cricket Championship, 7th Edition with the start of the Zonal Qualifications across Nigeria.
The announcement which was signed by NCF Public Relations/Biz Dev. Manager, Mr. Musa Ehizoje Bodie on February 19, 2026 stated that, this edition will witness 36 states across the country participating in the zonal qualification and the best from the states will be selected into a team that will represent the zone in both Boys and Girls categories.
“The Nigeria Cricket Federation is pleased to announce that the 7th edition of the National Under-17 Cricket Championship is set to begin with the zonal qualification across the country.
“This edition will witness 36 states across the country participating in the zonal qualification and the best from the states will be selected into a team that will represent the zone in both Boys and Girls categories.
The statement added that, the National Under-17 championship is the biggest age grade tournament in Nigeria and North West Africa which serves as a platform to identify the next generation of national team players for the country
“The National Under-17 championship is the biggest age grade tournament in Nigeria and North West Africa which serves as a platform to identify the next generation of national team players for the country. Proudly speaking, the current senior Men and Women’s National team is made up of 70% players that have passed through this system and 100% composition of the national under-19 players in both Male and Female categories are a product of this tournament.
Action will begin across the zones with scheduled dates as follows;
North Central:- 26th February – 1st March, 2026
North West:- 25th February – 1st March, 2026
North East: – 25th February – 1st March, 2026
South West: – 18th – 21st February, 2026
South East: – 18th – 22nd February, 2026
South-South:– 25th February – 1st March, 2026.
“In the North Central, zonal qualification will take place at the twin cricket ovals, M.K.O Abiola Stadium, Package B’ Abuja, while Kaduna State will host the North West region and Adamawa State will play host to all the states from the North East. Edo State will host the South-South, Government College Owerri will host the South East and Finally, Ogun State will be he home to all states in the South West Zone.
