The Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, has honoured 78 members of staff with Long Service Awards in recognition of their dedication, loyalty, and outstanding contributions to the growth of the Commission and the development of the Niger Delta region.
A press statement signed by Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, NDDC’s Director, Corporate Affairs on July 24, 2026 said that, while speaking during the ceremony at the NDDC headquarters in Port Harcourt, the Managing Director, Dr. Samuel Ogbu, stated that the welfare of staff remained a top priority for the Board and Management, noting that employees were the institutional memory of the Commission.
Ogbuku, who was represented by the Executive Director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Boma Iyaye, congratulated the awardees for their years of dedicated service and appreciated them for their contributions to the Commission’s successes over the years.
He described the ceremony as an opportunity to celebrate dedication, loyalty, and commitment to service, noting that the awardees had not only devoted decades of their lives to the Commission but had also mentored younger employees and contributed significantly to addressing the challenges facing the NDDC.
According to him, “We are proud of you, the awardees. We celebrate your service, dedication, and achievements. Each one of you has played a vital role in shaping our processes and success story. Today, we say thank you for giving your talents and time to the growth and development of the Niger Delta region.”
In his remarks, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Sir Kelechi Nwelue, commended the recipients for serving both the Commission and the Niger Delta region with distinction, noting that they had earned the recognition through years of meritorious service, commitment, and excellence.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, the Director, Education, Health and Social Services, Dr. Awele Chukwudifu, expressed gratitude to the Executive Management for the honour, describing the recognition as heartwarming, motivating, and encouraging. She noted that the award would inspire staff to remain committed to the Commission’s mandate of facilitating the sustainable development of the Niger Delta.
