The Federal Government says there is no attempt to criminalise the right to strike through the newly adopted National Industrial Relations Policy (NIRP).
The Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Mohammad Dinyadi says the newly approved National Industrial Relations Policy was aimed at fostering greater industrial harmony across the country.
Addressing Labour Correspondents in Abuja on Tuesday, the Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Dingyadi, said the policy would not in anyway criminalize industrial action by Organized Labour.
He outlined the policy’s advantages for Nigeria, such as increased industrial harmony, which would lead to more job creation, training of staff, peaceful, and structured labor relations across sectors.
Dr Dingyadi expressed high optimism that the policy would align Nigeria’s industrial relations practices with global benchmarks, particularly those of the International Labour Organization (ILO), making the country more competitive and attractive to both domestic and foreign investors.
