Nigeria saw no changes to their position in FIFA rankings which were released on Thursday.
The 2013 African champions remain 53rd in the world after having risen four places in last month’s rankings.
They had plummeted an unprecedented 14 places in the rankings two months ago.
There is however a small drop in Nigeria’s points total, which is now 599 as against 601 for last month.
Nigeria somehow climbed one place in the African rankings to ninth, overtaking Cape Verde, who dropped to 10th on the continent.
There were no international games in August, the month under review.
Tanzania, Nigeria’s opponents in Saturday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, also retain their 140th spot in the world with 195 points.
The Taifa Stars are ranked 41st in Africa.
