This evening, Captain Peculiar Agboya will lead Nigeria’s female cricket team, the Female Yellow Greens, as they fly into Namibia for the International Cricket Council, (ICC) Women’s T20 World Cup Africa Qualifiers from 31 August to 6 September 2025.
8 African teams will fight for the top 2 spots to join the 10 team Global Qualifiers in Nepal from 12 January to 2 February 2026. The top 4 finishers from Nepal will join 8 teams with automatic qualifications to make up 12 countries.
The final 12 teams will jostle for cup, glory, and rankings when the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup finals commences from 12 June to 5 July 2026 in England and Wales .
Nigeria will battle the likes of Kenya, Namibia, Rwanda, Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zimbabwe in the Africa Qualifiers series.
Nigeria Cricket Federation, NCF, General Manager, Mr. Emeka Igwilo is optimistic that the Nigerian girls will come out with top spot finishing due to High Performance Cricket engagement in Benin and Lagos camps.
The youthful ladies under Coach Adeleke Oyede had their last international outing in the Kwibuka competition in Rwanda. They have won 5 international games and lost 2 as of June 2025.
Nigeria is ranked 26th on ICC Women’s T20 World rankings, while Zimbabwe is best ranked 14th in the African Cricket qualifying series.
