The National Orientation Agency, NOA, has voiced concern about the lack of patriotism among Nigerians, particularly youngsters, ahead of the country’s 63rd Independence Day celebrations.

The Agency believes that residents should utilize Independence Day to re-enact the importance of unity across the country, which is critical at this point in the country’s history.

The primary reason for the founding fathers’ quest for sovereignty was to encourage patriotism, peace, and unity.

However, Nigerians’ lack of affection and patriotism has gradually risen since the country’s independence in 1960.

The basic causes of most individuals prioritizing personal or ethnic interests over national goals have long been engrained in the culture.

Citizens whose words and actions inspire patriotism are becoming increasingly rare.

The National Orientation Agency understands the importance of instilling patriotism in Nigerians. It intends to use this conference to promote awareness about the importance of citizen participation in national development.

Citizens are urged to make personal sacrifices for the greater good of the country.

For the 2023 National Citizens and Patriots Day, which will be held on September 30th, the Agency intends to have two formal activities: a bonfire night and “light prices in.”
