The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki is the only sub-national government invited to speak at the 10th Anniversary of the Belt and Road Global Chambers of Commerce and Associations Conference involving over 150 countries.

The event was organized in Fuzhou, the largest city in Fujian Province where, coincidentally majority of the Chinese companies operating in Edo state are headquartered.

The governor used the occasion in Fuzhou to deepen the business relationship with Chinese investors.

Edo State is currently the third state in Nigeria after Lagos and Ogun with the largest number of Chinese companies. They have grown steadily from a couple of companies to over 10 manufacturing steel, tiles, roof, ceramic, wood and including the largest glass company in West Africa.

After participating in the plenary session at the opening ceremony of the Belt and Road Global Chambers of Commerce and Associations Conference, the Governor had a close door meetings with the Fuzhou business community.

Edo State’s fast growing reputation as the energy and petrochemical hub of Nigeria is a big attraction to potential Chinese investors who find the prospects of cheap gas to be attractive for business.
