The Managing Director of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, Dr Samuel Ogbuku, has emerged as the new Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community in Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, assuming the traditional title of Daufa VI.

A press statement signed by Mrs. Seledi Thompson-Wakama, NDDC’s Director, Corporate Affairs on June 14, 2026 said Ogbuku’s emergence was in accordance with the provisions of the Ayakoro Community Constitution. His installation came six months after the demise of the late Paramount Ruler. Before his elevation, he served as Deputy Paramount Ruler of the community.

The transition process was conducted under the supervision of the Bayelsa State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, with Chief Micha Itekesi also emerging as the new Deputy Paramount Ruler of Ayakoro Community.

Speaking after his installation, the NDDC Chief Executive Officer described the development as a moment that transcends titles, positions and public office, noting that it represented the community’s appreciation for years of dedicated service and commitment to its growth and well-being.

Ogbuku said the confidence reposed in him by the people of Ayakoro was a reminder that genuine service, sacrifice and dedication to the welfare of the people were always rewarded.

The NDDC boss pledged to lead the community with humility, dedication, and integrity, while seeking God’s guidance in discharging his new responsibilities.

He expressed optimism that his reign would usher in greater peace, unity, dignity and development for the community.

“May God grant us wisdom, patience, courage and clarity. We pray that our reign will bring peace, unity, dignity and greater progress to Ayakoro Community,” he stated.

Ogbuku thanked the people of Ayakoro for the trust and confidence placed in him and assured them of his commitment to working with all stakeholders to build a stronger, more prosperous and united community for future generations.
