On January 19th, 2023, the Delta Central Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Peters Omaruaye, along with the candidates for the Uvwie, Okpe and Sapele federal constituency, Barrister Amos Ejedegba, and the Okpe State Constituency, Engr. Otis Agbaminor Onanefe, continued their engagements with constituents ahead of the 2023 general elections campaign.

They met with the Artisan Association of Nigeria (AAON) at the Okpe multi-purpose centre in Ororekpe, the headquarters of the Okpe Local Government Area, where they informed the group of their intention to contest the forthcoming elections on the APGA platform and sought their support. The group agreed to support APGA and all its candidates.

During the visit, Mr. Omaruaye acknowledged the commitment and support of the Artisans group towards his ambition and that of other APGA candidates to represent various constituencies within the state in the next election. He promised that, if elected, he would bring quality and equal representation to the good people of the Senatorial District that would advance the needs of the Artisans and other stakeholders in the District.

Furthermore, the APGA standard bearer criticized the current PDP government for not doing justice to Okpe local government and the state at large. He stated that it was shameful that the local government at present cannot boast of a bank, which is a measurement of commercial activities, because those who have been in charge of the state for the past 23 years have not done justice to the area even with the presence of the number three man in the state, yet there is nothing to show for it. He emphasized that Okpe is one of the oldest local governments in the state that has failed to develop just because of bad representation.

Mr. Omaruaye also promised to facilitate federal Government projects and empower constituents that would boost the Delta Central economy and positively impact the lives of constituents. He stated that the APGA governorship candidate, Chief Great Ogboru, is a man with a soft spot for the suffering of his people and the number one leader of the party in the state with the change manifesto called Jubilee Agenda that was put in place to restore all our lost glory and set the state on the path of progress. He therefore urged everyone to vote for Ogboru and all APGA candidates in next year’s election.

Barrister Amos Ejedegba, the candidate for Uvwie, Okpe and Sapele constituency, also spoke at the meeting and promised to liaise with Omaruaye in the national assembly to make laws that will ensure there is constant power supply and also make our seaports function in order to boost the economy at various constituencies in the state.

Engr. Otis Agbaminor Onanefe, the house of assembly candidate for Okpe state constituency, reassured the group that he would not disappoint the state constituency. He stated that he decided to join the contest having realized that with government power, one can do more. He said he has been doing humanitarian work for a long time, that has been his hobby, not because he wants to contest an election.

He asked those present to go and verify and they will tell you he has been doing it for years, paying monthly salary for a good number of people. He stated further that a lot of women here were in the past employed by him to clean the headquarter of the local government, receiving monthly salary from him, this he did with his hard-earned money. He requested the Artisan group to nominate 50 persons for immediate employment.

The speech by the house of assembly hopeful, Engr. Otis Agbaminor Onanefe, brought a loud ovation from the members present who were seen dancing to the glory of God for the opportunity. Also speaking at the meeting were the party’s Central Woman Leader, Madam Yellow Sisi, and others who assured the group that Ogboru and all APGA candidates would never fail them if elected.

Responding, the spokesperson of the association, in his remarks, said that with what they had seen today, the APGA candidates were good and suitable with uncompromising quality in their resolve to have a better Delta state, he assured all of them on behalf of his Association that APGA is the party to beat and they were giving their support.

Other members of the association who spoke also commended the candidates who are seeking elective offices on the platform of All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) for the important visit where they had a fruitful discussion that if implemented, would bring projects to the local government and the state that would make life easy for all.
