As the 2023 general elections approach, political parties and their candidates are actively engaging with different groups and leaders across the country to seek support for their candidates.

On January 24th, the Delta Central Senatorial District candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Mr. Peters Omaruaye, visited a group of spare parts traders in Ughelli.

The purpose of the visit was to inform the traders of his intention to represent the people of Delta Central in the Senate and to urge them to work with APGA to retire the “killer-politicians” that have been holding the state hostage for the past 24 years.

During the visit, Mr. Omaruaye acknowledged the current challenges facing Deltans such as hunger, unemployment, and insecurity. He also criticized the current political leaders of the state, stating that they were the same individuals who have been in power since 1999, and that they have been using their positions for their own personal gains. He emphasized the need for change in leadership, and urged the traders to support APGA in order to achieve this change.

Mr. Omaruaye was accompanied by other APGA candidates, including Chief Daniel Ekorhi who is running for the position of Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu federal constituency, Comrade Fredrick Umukoro who is vying for the position of Ughelli North State Constituency in the State House of Assembly, and other party leaders and members in the state. They all assured the traders of better representation if elected.

The visit was well-attended by the Executive Members of the Spare Parts Traders Association. The Chairman of the Association, in his response, praised the political vision of Mr. Omaruaye and his team, and emphasized the need for a leadership change in the state. He also expressed his support for APGA and affirmed that the traders would work towards ensuring the victory of APGA candidates in the coming elections.

After the visit to the spare part traders, Mr. Omaruaye also visited a political group known as the Forum for Genuine Voters under the leadership of Chief Ruben Oteri and other political leaders within the Ughelli axis and Effurun-otor. The group expressed their support for Mr. Omaruaye and all APGA candidates in the state.
