Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo on Wednesday presided over the federal executive council (FEC) meeting in Aso Rock, Abuja.

Osinbajo is standing in for President Muhammadu Buhari who is currently away on an official 8 days visit to Saudi Arabia.

While in Saudi Arabia, Buhari will also perform Umrah, the lesser pilgrimage.

Before the commencement of the meeting, Boss Mustapha, secretary to the government of the federation (SGF), formally notified the council of the passing of Bola Ajibola, former minister of justice and attorney general of the federation (AGF).

The council then observed a minute silence in honour of Ajibola, who died on Sunday at the age of 89.

Ajibola was the minister for justice from 1985 to 1991 under the military government led by Ibrahim Babangida.

From 1991 to 1994, he was a judge of the International Court of Justice in The Hague, Netherlands.
