POWER TO THE YOUTHS

Today, in a landmark resolution, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of our great Party voted to slash the cost of declaration of Interest forms (to contest political positions) for the Party Primaries by 50% for all Party members between the ages of 25 to 30. The basis for such decision was hinged on the Party’s commitment to ensure youths participation and inclusion in politics and governance. The move, while no doubt unprecedented is not a new concept to the PDP. The PDP at various times has adopted an all inclusive approach to every stakeholder in the society.

He said Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Youths expressed their profound appreciation to the National Executive Committee  of its great Party. On behalf of the vibrant youths of the PDP, he acknowledged the gesture and pledged not to take the opportunity for granted. Inis words, “for a long time we have cried that there is no platform for the leaders of tomorrow. This gesture is an important first step and will go down as a turning point in our political culture”.

The Founding Fathers of this great Party envisioned a Nigeria with clear roadmap to development and sustainability. The bulk of that vision reflected in the array of individuals voted and appointed into office 23 years ago. Most of our leaders today were young first timers (23 years ago), who were given opportunity to serve in public office and thrived in their respective portfolios.

To conclude my appreciation message, I will reiterate that my mission as National Youth Leader is to work with members of the National Working Committee(NWC) towards creating a purpose-driven Party with a clear set-up and path for Youths inclusion and participation. The idea is to participate and mobilize from the grassroots. We are under no illusions that leadership and responsibility are going to be handed on a platter to the youths. My appreciation goes to my fellow dogged youths of our great Party for our resolve to participate in the determination of our future.

From every youth of our Party, We say Power to the People, Power to the Youths!!

Prince Muh’d Kadade Suleiman
PDP, National Youth Leader.
