PETERS OMARUAYE CONGRATULATES REV. FR. ANTHONY OVAYERO EWHERIDO, CELEBRATES WITH THE ENTIRE UGHELLI-SOUTH LGA

Mr. Peters Omaruaye the APGA Delta Central Senatorial Candidate, celebrated the elevation of the Rev. Fr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido as the new Bishop-elect of the Catholic Diocese of Warri.

Revd Fr. Anthony Ovayero Ewherido has held numerous positions within the church, some ecumenical. Amongst his lengthy service to the Church, he was a one time assistant Parish Priest of St. Jude’s in Effurun (1986-1987), Rector of the Holy Martyr’s of Uganda Minor Seminary in Effurun (1988-1992), Parish Priest of the Mother of the Redeemer Catholic Church in Effurun (1992-1994), residential Priest with pastoral duties at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church in Floral Park, New York (1994-2005), at the St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Coram, New York (1995-2006), Chaplain at Stony Brook University Medical Center, Stony Brook, NY (1995-2006) and Parish Priest of the Sacred Heart in Abraka, Nigeria (2006-2007).

In his celebration of Bishop Anthony Ewherido’s appointment to head the Warri Diocese, Omaruaye acknowledged their long history, and the service of the Bishop to the community. He also noted that Ughelli-South, from where Bishop Ewherido hails, has produced many notable men who’ve dedicated their lives to the service of God and the community. Amongst these are, The Bishop of the Whole World, Saint Dikeji Daniel Miyerijesu from Eyara in Ughelli-South; The Most Revd. Odutemu, The Bishop of Ughelli Diocese, Anglican Communion, from Ewu in Ughell-South; and Arch Bishop Goddowell Avwomakpa, Founder of Christ Missionary Crusader Church, from Oginibo in Ughelli South.

In his final remark, he congratulated the entire Ewherido family for their contributions to the service of society, and to Revd. Fr. A. O Ewherido, he prayed ‘the Good Lord would see him through and continue to raise men like him from this part of the world’.
