As the 4th edition of the Governor Abdullahi Sule Inter-Security Agencies’ Unity Cup Football Tournament enters its crucial stage, the men have been separated from the boys.

Making in-road into the last eight of the competition are the Federal Road Safety Corps(FRSC), Nasarawa State Youth Empowerment Agency (NAYEA), Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Nigerian Police Force (NPF), Nigerian Air Force(NAF), Nigerian Army(NA), National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), and Department of State Services (DSS).

At the end of the last games of the preliminary round on Wednesday, the Nigerian Correctional Service’s 3-2 win over the Nigerian Air Force team wasn’t enough to guarantee them passage to the knockout stage, as they fell short of the pecking order on the Group B table due to inferior goal deficit, despite sharing the same three points with the two other counterparts, namely, the NAF and NSCDC.

In the group C outing, the NDLEA shocked the Nigerian Army by a lone goal courtesy of Theophilus Loko in the 31st minute of the first-half, to top the Group C table with four points.

The Nigerian Army will join the NDLEA en route to the quarter-finals stage where they will face the Nigerian Air Force, after coming second position in the group with three points, while the Nigerian Immigration Service failed to progress beyond the preliminary round.

The Department of State Services, DSS, advanced to the quarter-finals stage from Group D after dismantling the Federal Fire Service team by 6-2.

Allu Samuel Samuel(5th minute), Habeeb Auta(20th minute), Hameed Musa(27th minute), Abubakar Dahiru(35th minute), Suleman Aliyu(69th minute) and Abubakar Ibrahim(77th minute, scored for the Secret Service team, while Ose Ataya(40th minute) and Abdullahi Haruna(52nd minute), netted the consolation goals for the Fire Fighters, as they bowed out of the tournament, without a win nor draw.

Both the Nigerian Police Force and DSS progressed to the last eight of the competition where they will face NAYEA on Tuesday, 14th October, 2025, by 4pm, and Federal Road Safety Corps, on Monday, 13th October, 2025, by 2pm, respectively.

Still on Monday, the Nigerian Air Force will tackle the Nigerian Army in the clash of the Nigerian Military by 4pm, before the full Semi-Finalist teams will be determined on Tuesday, 14th October, 2025, when the NDLEA will hope to continue with their impressive form as they are paired against Group B’s runners-up team, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, by 2pm.

Semi-Final matches hold on Thursday, 16th October, 2025, between 2pm to 4pm, at the Lafia City Stadium.
