Here’s a rejoinder to Reno’s recent article on X:
Reno Omokri’s recent article is a classic case of hypocrisy and selective outrage. He accuses others of inciting violence while ignoring his own history of divisive and inflammatory rhetoric. He once referred to Northerners as “parasites” and called the current president a “drug baron,” only to later become a vocal supporter.
Omokri’s criticism of the protest organizers is misguided and ignores the root causes of the demonstrations. He faults them for not preparing for violence, yet he fails to acknowledge the government’s role in escalating tensions and failing to address the grievances of the protesters.
Moreover, Omokri’s call for prosecution of protest organizers is a thinly veiled attempt to silence dissenting voices. He cherry-picks definitions from the dictionary to suit his narrative while ignoring the broader context of the protests.
It’s essential to recognize that the protests were a response to systemic injustices and failures of governance. Instead of scapegoating organizers, we should focus on addressing the underlying issues and working towards meaningful reform. Omokri’s self-serving hypocrisy and selective outrage only serve to further polarize the nation and distract from the real challenges at hand.
THE RENO OMOKRI X (Tweet)
How can you sit in America (Sowore), Anambra and Lagos (Obi) and Abuja (other promoters of the protest) and incite people to protest in Kano, Kaduna, Jigawa, Maiduguri and other flashpoints?
You even tagged the protest ‘Days of Rage’, but you do not have leaders who can control the crowds in all the places you called for demonstrations. Yet, you know that these are places where violence has erupted in the past.
Was it your plan to destroy Northern Nigeria? Is that what you meant by your ‘religious war’ in your leaked audio?
And now that people have died and economies have been destroyed, you say you are surprised that the protest turned violent and bloody. What did you expect?
That means you do not understand human nature and are a poor judge of anticipating the consequences of actions and situations. It is primary facie proof that you are a worse administrator than the politicians you are protesting.
Because at least those politicians prepared by having the police and army on standby. You did not prepare.
Go to the dictionary and check out the meaning of Rage. It means violent anger. Please fact-check me. How can you ask people to gather for ‘violent anger’, yet you say you did not expect violence?
Their blood is on your hands. You are liable for the looting and destruction of public property. And if the government does not want this senseless destruction to happen again, those who incited and invited these protests should be charged and prosecuted, just as the British government is doing. Or it will happen again.
