Michael Egiethua, publisher of Crossfire Reports on the 6th day of August 2023, caused to be published an article on Crossfire Reports website accessible via the URL crossfirereports.com, with the headline “MASSIVE FRAUD ROCKS AMNESTY OFFICE AS HEADS OF UNITS GET ILLEGAL MONTHLY N15M, N10M WELFARE ALLOWANCES” about the Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Major General Barry Ndiomu Rtd.
The article made allegations which were unfounded and false in its entirety having alleged without proof that the interim Administrator and other officers of the Presidential Amnesty Programme were corrupt and involved in the embezzlement of funds allocated the Programme.
The Presidential Amnesty Programme, particularly its Interim Administrator, Major General Barry Ndiomu Rtd have been brought into public scandal, ridicule and contempt.
I along with other members of Crossfire Reports acknowledge that there was no basis to those allegations and wish by this publication to immediately retract the publication.
I, for and on behalf of Crossfire Reports deeply regret the dent on the reputation, loss of confidence and damage which the article may have caused the person of the Interim Administrator and its executives and the Presidential Amnesty.
By this publication I along with other members of the Crossfire team hereby fully and unreservedly tender our sincere apologies to Major General Barry Ndiomu Rtd. and the officers of the Presidential Amnesty Programme for the article and for any embarrassment or damage caused by the article,
