Serving and former lawmakers have continued to pour glowing tributes on the late Adonye Kelly Diri, who represented Opobo/Nkoro state constituency in the 8th and ninth Assembly.
The Rivers State House of Assembly has been thrown into grief , but are comforted with the fact that the deceased lived a good life and positively touched lives.
The Lawmakers who took turns to eulogize their late former colleague, Adonye Kelly Diri in a valedictory session held in his honour at the hallowed chambers of the Rivers State House of Assembly, expressed grief at his demise as most of them described Mr Adonye Diri as a man of peace.
Leader , Edison Ehie while reading the biography of the late Diri urged his colleagues to continue in the legacies of late Diri.
According to him, late Adonye Diri is a known active socialite who initiated and built several projects for his people which includes , “market, water treatment plant, NYSC hostel and scholarship scheme among others.”
Other lawmakers including Orubienimigha Adolphus Timothy of Opobo/ Nkoro constituency , Igwe Aforji of Eleme constituency and
Lolo Isaiah Opuende of Akuku-Toru two described him as a seasoned politician, embodiment of humility and God fearing while prayed that God receives his soul.
A former lawmaker, who represented ONELGA constituency one in the eight and ninth Assembly, Christian Ahiakwo while speaking on behalf of the former lawmakers, said late Adonye Diri lived a good life and described him as a philanthropist who touched many lives .
Speaker, Martin Amaewhule in his eulogy which came last rued the loss of Adonye Diri, adding that the time calls for sober reflection.
The Speaker who said he will be remembered with the good memories they shared with him, called on members to stand with the family while he prayed that God will give the family the strength to bear the loss.
“Hon. Diri is an easy going former colleague, whose kind and peaceful disposition was most appealing.”
“He served with me in the Health committee , his amiable work ethics and panache was impressive, he will be greatly missed by his family, former colleagues and friends.”
The late Adonye Diri who served in the eight and ninth Assembly was elected into the Rivers State House of Assembly in twenty fifteen by the people of Opobo/Nkoro.
