The proposed Port Harcourt ring road project will be Governor Sim Fubara’s greatest Legacy, as it will be one of the Longest roads ever constructed by a Governor in Nigeria. The infrastructure project aimed at improving transportation and connectivity in Rivers state. The ring road will provide an alternate route for traffic and help decongest the city center. It is expected to enhance transportation efficiency, reduce travel time, and improve the overall quality of life for Rivers people. The Rivers state Government had concluded planning and development stage of the project, as it is seen as a significant step towards creating a more modern and sustainable transportation system in the state.

The ring road project in Port Harcourt is also expected to improve connectivity within the city and it’s surrounding areas. The planning and development stage of the ring road project involves various aspects such as route selection, environmental impact assessment, and funding arrangements as the Governor has approached the Rivers State House of Assembly for the approval of Two Hundred Billion Naira(N200 Billion) supplementary budget for the Ring road Project. This supplementary Budget just passed the first and second reading in the Rivers state House of Assembly.

The project will likely transverse all three senatorial districts of Rivers State as it is initially proposed to pass through Eleme, Etche , Okrika , Obio Akpor, Emuoha , Port Harcourt , Gokana , Oyigbo Local Government Areas. It is said to comprise of over 6 Bridges and flyovers.

The project once completed, will most likely alleviate congestion in the city center, as it will divert a significant amount of traffic away from the busy areas. This will not only reduce travel time for commuters and ensure speedy delivery of goods and services.
