…Court fixes September 30 for hearing as police conclude investigation into Guzape killing
Three suspects have been arraigned before the FCT High Court 13 over the alleged murder of Adimike Godwin, who was found dead in his residence in the Guzape area of Abuja in May.
The defendants, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony, Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade, were brought before the court by the FCT Police Command on charges related to the killing of the deceased, who is the father of two of the accused persons.
According to the police, the incident occurred on May 15, 2026, after a relative of the deceased alerted officers at the Guzape Divisional Headquarters when repeated attempts to reach him proved unsuccessful. Detectives who responded to the distress call reportedly found Adimike unconscious in his room with multiple stab wounds.
He was rushed to Karu General Hospital, where doctors confirmed him dead.
The FCT Police Command said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Muhammed Sanusi, directed a thorough investigation into the incident, leading to the arrest of five suspects, including the deceased’s driver and gateman. However, following the conclusion of investigations, only three suspects were charged before the court.
The defendants face a four-count charge bordering on alleged criminal conspiracy to commit culpable homicide, culpable homicide, and offences under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
Police alleged that all three accused jointly conspired to murder the deceased. In addition, Adimike Odirachukwu Anthony was separately charged with allegedly entering into a same-sex civil union, while Adimike Chinyere Stephany and Comfort Ajibade were jointly charged with a similar offence under the Same Sex Marriage (Prohibition) Act.
The court ordered that the three defendants be remanded at the Suleja Correctional Centre pending the hearing of the case and adjourned proceedings until September 30, 2026.
