Three Lodgers suffocate to death in Edo hotel

Edo State Police Command is investigating the death of three lodgers in hotel’s fire in Benin City, the state capital, its Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Chidi Nwabuzor, a Superintendent of Police (SP), has said.

The lodgers, including lovers: Bright Amechi, Michael Awowea and Cynthia Ogiugo, lost their lives at a popular hotel (name withheld), on Emoavwodua Street, off Limit Road, in the Edo State capital.

Our reporter gathered yesterday that the victims: two males and a female, were sleeping in their rooms, when there was sudden fire at 4 a.m., on the first floor of the hotel, with the smoke suffocating the lodgers, who became unconscious.

Nwabuzor said some suspects had been arrested, He didn’t disclose their identities.

He, however, noted that a guest in the room, where the fire started, and an official of the hotel, had made useful statements to the police.
