Reinaldo Fuentes, 68, a middleman who controlled key drug corridors in Buenos Aires for a cartel, allegedly stole a shipment worth over $10 million.
According to reports, Fuentes sold part of a 204 kilogram consignment, dumped some of it into the sea, and falsely claimed the drugs were lost during a pursuit.
Months later, he allegedly returned to the same location, retrieved the hidden packages from the water, repackaged them, and attempted to resell the drugs on another Caribbean island.
He later fled with his lawyer girlfriend and adopted a new identity.
However, his operation reportedly unraveled after some of his henchmen informed members of a Venezuelan cartel.
He was eventually captured and drowned at the same spot where he had concealed the shipment, with an anchor tied to his hands.
