Troops of the 8 Division Garrison have successfully repelled an attack by suspected terrorists on their position at Forward Operating Base (FOB) Tidibale in Sokoto State.

Security sources said the attack occurred at about 11:50 a.m. on Friday when the assailants attempted to engage troops stationed at the base.

According to the sources, the troops responded effectively, forcing the attackers to retreat from the area.

Following the failed attack, troops pursued the fleeing terrorists along their withdrawal route but were unable to establish further contact with them.

The sources disclosed that during their retreat, the attackers fired sporadically into a nearby farmland, resulting in injuries to two farmers.

The injured victims were evacuated to the General Hospital in Isa for medical treatment.

Security personnel have continued efforts to dominate the area and prevent further attacks, while monitoring the movement of the fleeing assailants.

No casualty was reported among the troops during the encounter.
