Two suspects busted for School cult activities

The Akwa Ibom State Police Command apprehended two individuals suspected of being members of the Black Axe Confraternity during an intelligence-led operation in Uyo.

The arrest occurred on February 1, 2026, at approximately 4:30 p.m., following credible information about initiation activities at a secondary school along Oron Road. Upon arrival, the suspects fled, abandoning a red mini-bus with registration number NYA-164XA.

According to DSP Timfon John, Police Public Relations Officer, two suspects, Anitie Isaac and Unyime Effiong, were apprehended after a pursuit by officers. Recovered items include one axe, one brown calabash, one bottle of Lord’s alcoholic drink, various types of incense, coloured handkerchiefs, and a Neo Black Axe sticker.

The suspects and exhibits are currently in police custody and undergoing investigation. The Commissioner of Police reaffirms the Command’s zero-tolerance policy for cultism and related crimes, assuring the public that efforts will continue to rid the state of criminal elements.
